wow, I mean, WOW!

This book, "Following Ezra," by Tom Fields-Meyer, was an amazing read.  It follows Tom and his son, Ezra, who at age three is diagnosed with autism.

They encounter a therapist who tells them they need to grieve for the child Ezra didn't turn out to be, which makes Tom angry, because the child Ezra is at the moment is an amazing little boy.  Tom never once gives in to what the therapist says and finds his own ways to get through to Ezra.  In fact, Tom does the exact opposite.

This is a must read for all parents.  It teaches us that every child is unique no matter what and as parents it is our job to find out what works.
