The book I just finished reading is "Next to Love", by Ellen Feldman.
The book follows three friends, Babe, Grace and Millie over a course of 20 years. It starts as their men are going off to fight in World War II. The book mostly deals with what happens after the war, and how they come to realize there is no life after war.
I like how the main focuses of the book are about friendship, marriage and parenthood and the choices that are made because of war and its casualties.
